Custom Cosmetic Dentistry Treatments:
Bonding Resins
Resin fillings matching the shades of your teeth are used to mask discolorations and gaps in teeth. The resin is cured by an ultraviolet light and a buffing tool shapes and polishes the resin over the tooth to restore a natural appearance. Bonding is very fast and low cost and can be finished within a single visit. Here is a video showing how bonding can fix an irregular tooth line
Cosmetic Veneers
Porcelain veneers can fix the look of discolored teeth, resize undersized teeth, gaps between teeth, and small misalignments. Veneers are manufactured in a lab and are shaped to line up with the contour of the line of your teeth. They are very tough and durable and have been found to last for many years.
Crowns & Caps
A crown, sometimes called a “cap”, is actually just a cover that is shaped like the replacement tooth to protect the underlying tooth. It is most commonly made of gold or other metals like like silver. But to look natural it will be made of porcelain or a combination of metal and porcelain. More than one appointment will be needed to complete installation of a crown.
A crown is used for:
- A damaged tooth that has too much structure loss.
- A tooth with an advanced cavity.
- To replace a loose crown.
- Capping a root canal.
- Realigning a bite.
Preparing a Dental Crown:
- Numb tooth with local anesthetic.
- Remove all decay and fill the cavity.
- Create a Mould.
- Affix a temporary cap.
- Lab fabricates a crown using the mould.
- Temp crown is replaced with new crown and adjusted for bite.
